Special Education Paraprofessional Job Openings

Our Para’s work closely with students in the classroom, alongside a team of Guides. A Paraprofessional is an educational worker without a teacher's license who assists Teachers with classroom management and organization. Special education paraprofessionals assist students with special needs under the direction of a certified teacher. Paraprofessionals generally work in an inclusionary setting (i.e. least restrictive environment). The Paraprofessional provides a positive and nurturing guide for students and attends to their physical, personal, academic, and emotional needs.

Special Education Paraprofessional

    Job Description
    • Assisting students in achieving academic success

    • Working with students who may be disruptive in class

    • Behavior support

    • Personal care

    • Social integration

    • Consultation and collaboration with Special Education and Regular Education Teachers as well as related service staff

    • Get materials and equipment ready to help teachers prepare for class

    • Reinforce lessons by reviewing material one-on-one and in small groups with students

    • Supervise students during lunch or recess, as well as in between classes or on field trips

    • Assist students who need additional help learning a specific concept

    • Help teachers keep records

    • Attend and participate in ABAR training.

    • Have fun!

    Qualifications
    • High school diploma or GED

    • Experience working with students.

    • Effective communication skills with adults and children.

    • Understanding of basic principles of childhood development.

    • Familiarity with educational software and willingness to learn new systems.

    • Certification in first aid and CPR, or willingness to complete certification.
